Fielding only 8 of 14 weight classes in the competition, the Einstein wrestlers posted their best tournament finish in years with a fifth place finish at the Parkdale Winter Blitz this past weekend.
There were 20 teams in the competition including Montgomery County rivals Kennedy, Rockville and Richard Montgomery.
The Titans were paced by Rickey Echeona’s second championship at 145 in as many weeks, followed by Chris Byars second place finish at 152 with Tommy Wilson (112), Oscar Salazar (125) and Alec Anderson (160) finishing with third-place medals and Jorge Villatoro winning his first high school medal with a fourth place finish at 119.
Shaun Flynn and Alex Monsell also wrestled over the weekend and gained more valuable mat time in their first season. Flynn added another victory by pin and Monsell had a couple of tough losses in overtime.
